CHP Deputy Chairman and Party Spokesperson Deniz Yücel has criticized a new legislative measure, claiming it signals the beginning of a new authoritarian era under the ruling AK Party. In a recent statement, Yücel expressed concerns that the measure, labeled as the “Impact Agency Regulation,” would severely harm freedom of the press and expression.
According to Yücel, the legislation aims to increase government control over the media. He characterized this development as “the complete eradication of press freedom.”
Yücel warned that the public’s right to access accurate information is at risk. He added, “With this regulation, opposition media will be entirely silenced, and a one-sided flow of information to the public will ensue.”
The CHP Deputy Chairman and Party Spokesperson pledged to fight this law through legal and democratic means, stating, “We will continue our struggle against this legislation in every lawful and democratic way.”
