The Foreign Affairs Committee of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) welcomed the Slovenian National Assembly’s Foreign Policy Committee Chairman Predrag Bakovic and his delegation at Gazi Parliament. During the meeting, various regional and global issues were addressed.

The two parties agreed to strengthen the friendship and strategic partnership between the two countries by enhancing cooperation in several areas, including the economy, trade, and mutual investments. There was also an emphasis on deepening relations in the defense industry, infrastructure, construction, science, culture, education, and tourism sectors.

Discussions also involved Israel’s illegal attacks in the Middle East and the current situation in Gaza. Both sides stressed the necessity of halting the genocide in Gaza and achieving a ceasefire, advocating for greater pressure at bilateral, international, and regional levels to reach a two-state solution in Palestine. It was concluded that cooperation between Turkey and Slovenia on these matters should be deepened.

Furthermore, the strategic importance of the European Union (EU) and Turkey’s EU membership process were highlighted. The TBMM Foreign Affairs Committee shared detailed information about Turkey’s role in maintaining peace in the Balkans, ensuring security in the Black Sea region, and conducting diplomacy in the context of the war in Ukraine.

The importance of parliamentary diplomacy was underscored, with an agreement that collaboration between the parliaments and committees of the two countries should progress structurally.
