The United States has provided Israel with a total of $17.9 billion in military aid since the initiation of strikes on civilians in the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023. This figure was revealed in a report published by Brown University’s “Costs of War Project,” highlighting the extent of Washington’s support for Israel.
Israel’s continuing attacks in the Gaza Strip, which have led to significant civilian casualties, have faced limited global outrage. During this period, the US has continued to support Israel, particularly through the supply of weapons. The report indicates that a large portion of the aid provided to Israel in the past year includes artillery shells, 2,000-pound bunker buster bombs, and precision-guided munitions.
The aid package also comprises $4 billion allocated for the renewal of Israel’s Iron Dome and David’s Sling missile defense systems. Additionally, cash support for the procurement of rifles and jet fuel is included in this figure. The report further notes that the US has spent an additional $4.86 billion to enhance its military operations in the region since the assault began.
However, the report acknowledges limitations in accessing detailed data on all military materials sent by the US to Israel since October 7, suggesting that the $17.9 billion figure might be a partial estimate.
