Audit Report Uncovers Financial Mismanagement in Ministry of Family and Social Services

According to the 2023 audit report by the Turkish Court of Accounts, the Ministry of Family and Social Services is showing a lack of adherence to principles of financial transparency, accountability, and openness.

**Incorrect Accounting in Unpaid Amounts**

The report highlights that unpaid amounts for monthly stipends to citizens over 65 years old and childbirth allowances were recorded incorrectly. This situation underscores the shortcomings in the ministry’s financial management.

**VAT Withholding and Public Loss**

The Turkish Court of Accounts emphasized that the Ministry of Family and Social Services failed to perform mandatory VAT withholdings on service procurements. This failure has resulted in public financial loss, revealing insufficient monitoring of the ministry’s financial activities.

**Severance Pay Issues**

Additionally, the audit identified the lack of provisions for severance pay for workers at the ministry as another significant issue. This lack points to inadequate protection of workers’ rights.

The report from the Turkish Court of Accounts draws attention to the financial management issues within the Ministry of Family and Social Services, highlighting the importance of effective usage of public resources.
