In Istanbul’s Beyoğlu district, a significant infrastructure project has been initiated to prevent recurring flooding incidents. The project aims to provide permanent solutions to flooding problems happening at 19 different locations within the area. Ekrem İmamoğlu, the Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, emphasized in his statements about the project that flooding issues are not just caused by heavy rainfall but are also influenced by underlying infrastructure problems.
The project’s purpose is to regulate water flow in the area to minimize potential flood risks. İmamoğlu indicated that the project will enhance the quality of life for local residents and strengthen Istanbul’s overall infrastructure.
