Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum Inspects Project Areas for Earthquake Survivors in Malatya

Murat Kurum, the Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, visited Malatya to inspect reserve and project areas allocated for earthquake survivors. During his visit, he listened to the needs of the residents and announced that the first phase of the project in Niyazi Mısri Neighborhood will be completed by August 30. Kurum also visited a family in their new home, expressing his desire to see all residents in their new homes soon.

The visit to Malatya, one of the provinces most affected by the February 6 earthquakes, included discussions with rightful claimants and local officials in the Battalgazi district. Kurum provided detailed information about the housing projects and emphasized the goal of maintaining community bonds and ensuring sufficient housing for all affected individuals.

Kurum addressed the concerns regarding reserve areas, explaining the significance of the projects in revitalizing the city’s economy and social life. “If we don’t perform these projects here, the vibrance, trade, and economy of the city won’t continue. This includes parks, green spaces, and social amenities,” he said, highlighting that the integration with adjacent reserve areas will create valuable attractions for the city.

In his tour, Kurum promised that the initial tender for the project in Niyazi Mısri Neighborhood will be completed by August 30, adhering to the residents’ wishes. He then visited earthquake survivors Nilüfer and Şahin Karadağ’s new home in Yeşilyurt district, wishing them well and expressing his commitment to seeing all citizens settled in their new homes soon.

Şahin Karadağ expressed deep gratitude for the swift and effective response, saying, “Thanks to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and you, the houses were completed in a year, and we lack nothing.”
