Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya Provides Update on Wildfire Evacuations in Izmir
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya has shared the latest developments regarding the forest fires in Izmir. Due to the threat posed by the wildfires to residential areas, a total of 900 residents have been evacuated from the Karşıyaka and Bayındır districts. The Minister emphasized that efforts carried out by AFAD, gendarmerie, and police teams are continuing uninterrupted.
In a significant update on the interventions against the forest fires in Izmir, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya addressed the public. Highlighting the particular threat posed by the fire in Karşıyaka district to residential areas, Yerlikaya stated that this situation endangers the safety of the residents.
According to Minister Yerlikaya, coordinated efforts by AFAD, gendarmerie, and police teams resulted in the evacuation of 170 residents from Sancaklı neighborhood, 500 from Doğançay neighborhood, 50 from Zübeyde neighborhood, and 80 from Onur neighborhood. In total, 800 residents were evacuated from Karşıyaka district.
Additionally, in Bayındır district, 100 residents were evacuated to safe zones due to the wildfire posing a similar threat.

Minister Yerlikaya underlined the intense efforts being made to prevent the wildfires from reaching residential areas and to bring the fires under control. He extended his condolences to the affected residents and assured that all state units are supporting the public, with firefighting efforts ongoing tirelessly.
Emphasizing the meticulous continuation of firefighting efforts in Izmir, Minister Yerlikaya added that all necessary steps are being taken to meet the needs of the evacuated residents for their safety.
