Manisa Forest Fires Force Evacuation of 1,440 Residents

Manisa, Turkey – Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya provided significant updates on the ongoing forest fires in the Gördes and Salihli districts of Manisa. Minister Yerlikaya announced that a total of 1,440 residents have been evacuated to safety due to the imminent threat posed by the fires to residential areas.

Authorities from AFAD, the gendarmerie, and the police coordinated the evacuations, ensuring the safety of affected communities. Minister Yerlikaya emphasized that firefighting efforts are being carried out incessantly.


**Evacuations in Gördes and Salihli: 1,440 People Relocated to Safety**

In a public statement, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya shared the latest developments concerning the forest fires in the Gördes and Salihli districts. He highlighted the severe threat posed by the fires especially in areas close to residential zones. Prompt actions by security forces and AFAD teams helped relocate residents to safety.

According to Minister Yerlikaya, evacuations have been made from several areas:


– Karayakup Village: 60 residents


– Yeniköy Neighborhood: 260 residents


– Kale Neighborhood: 200 residents


– Kemer Neighborhood: 400 residents


– Kurttuhan Neighborhood: 270 residents


– Hacıhıdır Village: 250 residents

In total, 1,440 residents have been moved to safer locations to avoid the potential impact of the fires.

**”Firefighting Efforts Continue Uninterrupted”**

Minister Ali Yerlikaya extended his well-wishes to those affected and noted the ongoing, strenuous efforts to combat the fires. He underlined that firefighting activities are being conducted round-the-clock with the cooperation of AFAD, gendarmerie, police, and fire brigade teams.


The safety measures for evacuated residents have been fully implemented, according to the minister. He assured that all state units are mobilized, demonstrating a vigorous effort to bring the fires under control as soon as possible. Yerlikaya stressed that the safety of citizens is of paramount importance, and meticulous efforts are underway to extinguish the fire at the earliest.
