Turkish Defense Minister Yaşar Güler, along with Deputy Minister Bilal Durdalı, attended the Indonesian National Day reception. In his speech, Güler underscored Indonesia’s special significance to Turkey.
Güler commenced his address by commemorating the heroes who sacrificed their lives in Indonesia’s struggle for independence. He highlighted the centuries-old friendship and brotherhood between Turkey and Indonesia, emphasizing the flourishing bilateral relations and cooperation in all sectors. He noted Indonesia’s strategic role as one of Turkey’s key partners in Southeast Asia, underscoring its importance in Turkey’s trade volume.
Güler also stressed the importance of solidarity between the two nations in times of disaster. He referenced Turkey’s assistance during the 2018 earthquake and tsunami in Indonesia and acknowledged Indonesia’s support following the earthquakes in Turkey in 2022.
Highlighting the progress in military and defense industry collaboration, Güler pointed to the action plan signed last year, which reflects the unified objectives in this field. He announced the goal of increasing joint training and exercises between the armed forces of both countries.
Expressing his appreciation for the Indonesian Ambassador’s valuable contributions to the friendship and cooperation between the two nations, Güler concluded his speech with a strong belief in the continued Turkey-Indonesia friendship and brotherhood.
