DEVA Party Leader Ali Babacan Criticizes AK Party on its 23rd Anniversary

DEVA Party Chairman Ali Babacan voiced his criticisms on the 23rd anniversary of the founding of the AK Party. Babacan stated that AK Party initially pursued goals of democracy, freedom, and justice but has since strayed from these ideals.

Babacan emphasized that the hopes within AK Party have diminished due to personal ambitions, corruption, and misguided policies. He noted that Turkey has now become a country dominated by drug cartels, gangs, and mafia organizations.

Despite the social media operations announced by the Minister of Interior, Babacan argued that those detained are released through backdoor channels and that the nation’s judiciary, law, and economy are in jeopardy. He also highlighted the insecurity in the streets, the uncertainty of the future, and the struggles of citizens to make ends meet.

As someone who contributed to AK Party’s founding documents, served as a member of the Central Decision and Executive Board (MKYK) for 14 years, and had the honor of serving Turkey for 13 years as a minister and deputy prime minister, Babacan congratulated the AK Party on its 23rd anniversary. However, he concluded his remarks by critically asking, “Is this what we envisioned?”
