Explosion in Şırnak: 1 Dead, 8 Injured

Today, Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that an explosion took place in the Siyahkaya region of Şırnak involving a mining company’s service vehicle. The incident resulted in the death of one individual and injuries to eight others.

Minister Ali Yerlikaya’s Statement:

Minister Ali Yerlikaya stated that security forces were dispatched to the site after receiving a call at the 112 Emergency Call Center. “An explosion occurred while a mining company’s service vehicle was on the road in the Siyahkaya region of Silopi District, resulting in injuries,” he explained. He added that security measures were taken in coordination with the Border Union and the injured were promptly transported to the hospital.

Consequences of the Explosion:

Unfortunately, one citizen lost their life, and eight others were injured, with two in serious condition. The injured were taken to Silopi State Hospital for treatment. Minister Ali Yerlikaya extended his condolences to the family of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

Source and Investigation of the Explosion:

Minister Yerlikaya noted that initial investigations with the Ministry of National Defense indicated that the attack originated from northern Iraq and was possibly related to a feud surrounding the local coal mine. He emphasized that extensive security measures have been implemented at the site and that the investigation is ongoing.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya concluded his statement by expressing his condolences and well-wishes: “I extend my condolences to the family of our citizen who lost their life and wish a swift recovery to the injured,” he said, adding that the investigation continues with diligence.
