CHP’s Deniz Yücel Warns of Potential Food Crisis Amid 22 Years of AKP Rule

During the 22-year rule of the AKP, Turkey has faced a series of crises. CHP Deputy Chairman and Party Spokesman Deniz Yücel highlighted that the current government has led the country into crises across various sectors, emphasizing the recent outcry from throughout the nation citing, “we can’t produce.”

Yücel pointed out significant hardships faced by farmers in different regions: tea producers in Rize, hazelnut growers in Giresun, tomato farmers in Bursa, and pistachio cultivators in Gaziantep are all experiencing severe difficulties. Similarly, cotton farmers in Aydın and those facing irrigation issues in Adana are also suffering greatly.

“If no measures are taken, a ‘food crisis’ will be added to Turkey’s existing crises,” warned Yücel. Criticizing the agricultural policies as unplanned and shortsighted, he asserted that the current government would go down in history as the administration that devastated agriculture.
