Helicopter Fighting Forest Fire in Kozan Crashes at Gökdere Dam
A helicopter belonging to the General Directorate of Forestry crashed while taking water from Gökdere Dam to battle a forest fire in Kozan, Adana. All five personnel on board were reported to have survived the incident.
Ömer Çelik, Deputy Chairman and Spokesperson of the AK Party, issued a statement regarding the accident. Çelik extended his best wishes to the personnel of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry as well as the General Directorate of Forestry. He emphasized that everyone who works selflessly to protect our green homeland deserves great appreciation.
This incident has once again underscored the risks faced by crews working to combat wildfires. While the General Directorate of Forestry continues its efforts to fight the fire, an investigation into the cause of the crash has been launched.
