Turkey Commemorates the 105th Anniversary of the Erzurum Congress with Pride and Enthusiasm
The Turkish nation’s aspiration for independence has been documented through sacrifices made for the integrity of the homeland.
The struggle for liberation, launched in Samsun on May 19, 1919, was solidified in Erzurum on July 23, 1919. These dates proudly announced to the world the Turkish nation’s resolve against occupation: “The homeland within national borders is an indivisible whole, and cannot be partitioned!”
We celebrate the 105th anniversary of the Erzurum Congress, a cornerstone of these significant struggles, with great pride and enthusiasm. On this occasion, we honor Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and the patriotic members of the Vilâyât-ı Şarkiye Müdâfaa-i Hukuk-ı Milliye Cemiyeti, along with all our independence heroes, with respect, gratitude, and reverence.
