Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya Announces Results of Traffic Inspections Conducted by Police and Gendarmerie

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya has announced that traffic teams from the police and gendarmerie inspected 2,406,651 vehicles between July 11-18, 2024. A total of 400,980 drivers faced legal actions during this period.

Minister Yerlikaya shared these details on his social media account, highlighting the traffic inspections conducted over one week. The Minister reported that 214 drivers were penalized for using devices with flashing or sound warning signals (flashing lights) on vehicles not permitted by regulations.

“Between July 11-18, 2024, traffic teams from the police and gendarmerie inspected 2,406,651 vehicles. Out of these, 115,866 drivers were penalized for speeding, 23,954 for not having periodic inspections, 16,343 for not wearing seat belts, 14,060 for driving without a license, and 9,178 for not having mandatory liability insurance, along with various other violations, totaling 400,980 drivers penalized,” Minister Yerlikaya stated.

In his post, Minister Yerlikaya also shared footage of the traffic inspections, emphasizing: “Please adhere strictly to traffic rules, avoid excessive speeding, and remember to always wear your seat belt. Journeys are meant to bring you to your loved ones, not separate you from them.”
