Turkish Navy Conducts Major Training Activities in the Black Sea

In an announcement by the Turkish Ministry of National Defense, the Turkish Naval Forces recently carried out significant training activities as part of their mine countermeasure mission in the Black Sea. On July 4, 2024, the vessels TCG Yüzbaşı Güngör Durmuş and TCG Akçay conducted joint training exercises with the Romanian mine-sweeping ship ROS SLT. Alexandru Axente and the Bulgarian mine-hunting ship BGS Struma.

As part of these operations, the Turkish Navy’s TCG Yüzbaşı Güngör Durmuş and TCG Akçay paid a visit to Bulgaria’s Burgas port on July 6, 2024. The Turkish Chief Consul in Burgas, Tolga Orkun, also visited the Turkish flagship during this stay.

In addition, the press events for “BREEZE 2024 Exercise” were carried out with the participation of Bulgarian Naval Forces Commander Vice Admiral Kiril Yordanov, Bulgarian Naval Flotilla Commander Rear Admiral Velko Velkov, and Turkish Naval Colonel Yusuf Karagülle.

These activities underscore Turkey’s commitment to maritime security and regional cooperation. According to a statement from the Ministry of National Defense, the training and visits aim to enhance Turkey’s naval capabilities and reinforce regional maritime security cooperation.
