CHP Deputy Chairman Burhanettin Bulut Criticizes Widening Income Inequality and Economic Hardships

CHP Deputy Chairman Burhanettin Bulut has made striking statements regarding the growing income inequality and worsening economic conditions in Turkey. Bulut, who is also a Member of Parliament for Adana, criticized officials from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) for their perceived insensitivity towards issues of income distribution and economic challenges.

In his remarks, Bulut highlighted the severe impact of income inequality on the public, stating that people are increasingly unable to leave their homes due to economic difficulties. He also emphasized that students are being forced to skip meals, adversely affecting both their physical and mental health.

Bulut further noted that merely passing university entrance exams is no longer sufficient, as many students are unable to attend their schools due to financial constraints. “Students are struggling to attend school even after passing their exams. This situation is alarming for the future of our country,” he said.

Addressing TÜİK officials in his statement, Bulut questioned their conscience, saying, “TÜİK officials, as an institution responsible for determining the wages of these children’s parents, don’t you feel any pangs of conscience?” With these words, he implied that TÜİK needs to adopt more just and sensitive income policies.
