Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya Announces Successful Multi-City Drug Bust Operation

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya shared the details of the Narkoçelik-26 operations conducted under the coordination of the Gendarmerie General Command’s KOM Department via his social media account. Minister Yerlikaya stated that the operations targeted those involved in the production and sale of illegal drugs.

Massive Operation in 12 Provinces

Operations were carried out in 12 provinces, including Istanbul, Antalya, Bingöl, Diyarbakır, Aydın, Gaziantep, Erzurum, Samsun, Hatay, Ankara, Ağrı, and Van. Coordinated by the Provincial Gendarmerie Commands, the operations involved 236 teams, 1596 personnel, and aerial support. During these operations, 57 drug dealers were apprehended. Among them, 28 were arrested, 14 were placed under judicial control, and proceedings for another 15 suspects are ongoing.

Large Quantities of Drugs Seized

During the operations, authorities seized 426 kilograms of illegal drugs, 3,915,485 cannabis and skunk plants, and 2,512,000 ecstasy pills. Minister Yerlikaya emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to combating drug production and sales.

In his statement, Minister Yerlikaya declared, “I want our beloved nation to know that we are determined to rid our country of drug dealers and street sellers. Our operations against drug traffickers will continue to escalate across the nation.” He also congratulated the gendarmerie and Customs Enforcement Directorate personnel involved in the operations and shared footage of the raids.
