By Haberyaz Jul9,2024

Turkey’s new indigenous communication satellite, Türksat 6A, has been successfully launched into space. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan highlighted that the nation and its people have witnessed another proud milestone. Türksat 6A, which holds significant importance for Turkey’s future in space, has over 81% of its subsystems, ground station, and software developed through domestic capabilities.

President Erdoğan mentioned that like Türksat 5B, Türksat 6A was also sent to space via SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket. He expressed his satisfaction with the strengthened cooperation with SpaceX and the partnership fostered with Elon Musk.

Erdoğan emphasized that despite all obstacles and restrictions, Turkey continues to increase its presence in space. He recalled the recent success of Turkey’s first manned space mission. With Türksat 6A’s activation, Turkey is set to become one of the few countries capable of producing communication satellites. He noted that this new phase in satellite production would significantly boost Türksat’s satellite service exports to the region, allowing Turkey to gain a market share in the design and production of satellites and components.

Stressing the critical importance of producing communication satellites without foreign dependency for national security, Erdoğan wished Türksat 6A to be beneficial for the country, the nation, and television broadcasting. He extended his gratitude to everyone involved in the project.
