Turkish and Japanese Foreign Affairs Committees Discuss Bilateral Relations and Global Issues

AK Party Ankara Deputy Fuat Oktay has announced that the Turkish Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee hosted the Japanese House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee. During the meetings, discussions focused on bilateral relations, current international developments, the Ukraine war, the Israel-Palestine conflict, and developments in the Asia-Pacific and Korean Peninsula.

Oktay highlighted that both countries agreed to collaborate internationally to halt the massacres in Gaza conducted by Israel, establish a ceasefire, and ensure uninterrupted humanitarian aid. The significance of resolving the issue based on a two-state solution model was also emphasized.

As we mark the centenary of diplomatic relations, talks were held on deepening cooperation in political, defense, economic, trade, tourism, cultural, scientific, and technological fields, as well as enhancing parliamentary relations structurally. Steps to balance bilateral trade volume and increase mutual investments were also discussed.

Addressing the issue of counter-terrorism, Oktay stated that they communicated their requests to terminate the activities of the PKK and FETÖ terrorist organizations in Japan and to prevent the abuse of the asylum system by these groups.
