Minister Ali Yerlikaya Announces Traffic Inspection Results: Over 2 Million Vehicles Inspected, 441,910 Penalties Issued

Minister of Interior, Ali Yerlikaya, revealed significant traffic inspection results conducted by Police and Gendarmerie Traffic Teams from June 27 to July 4, 2024. In his social media post, Minister Yerlikaya stated that over 2,408,077 vehicles were inspected within this period.

Among the findings:

– 215 drivers were penalized for using unauthorized warning devices such as lights and sirens.

– Speeding violations were committed by 115,662 drivers.

– 24,738 vehicles were found to be overdue for their periodic inspections.

– 23,609 drivers were not using seat belts.

– 14,000 vehicles were operated without a valid driver’s license.

– 9,287 vehicles lacked compulsory liability insurance.

In total, traffic teams issued penalties to 441,910 vehicles/drivers.

Minister Yerlikaya emphasized the importance of adhering strictly to traffic rules, avoiding excessive speed, and not neglecting to wear seat belts: “Journeys are meant to reunite you with your loved ones, not separate you from them.”

Police and Gendarmerie Traffic Teams conducted inspections from June 27 to July 4, 2024.

Over 2,408,077 vehicles were inspected.
