Istanbul’s Urban Transformation Receives Significant Support

According to a statement made by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, significant support will be provided for urban transformation projects aimed at low-income families and retirees living in risky structures.

For the reconstruction of risky structures, the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) will cover 60% of the cost of buildings constructed by KİPTAŞ for low-income families with a total monthly household income below twice the minimum wage. For low-income retirees under the same conditions, IMM will cover 65% of the cost.

Additionally, for families with a monthly household income below three times the minimum wage, 40% of the cost will be covered by IMM, while for retirees in the same situation, 45% of the cost will be covered.

A rapid building scanning service has identified 6,920 structures in the high-risk group, involving 80,000 families. These families will receive rent support of 7,000 TL, while retirees will receive 9,000 TL. In addition, temporary rental housing services will be provided to support accommodation during the transformation process. The first example of this application will be implemented in Bayrampaşa.

İmamoğlu also mentioned that they will expand the rapid building scanning service through protocols with district municipalities.

With IMM’s support and the assurance of KİPTAŞ, a historic period of urban transformation will be initiated in Istanbul. These projects will rapidly accelerate the process of transformation and renewal throughout the city.
