By Haberyaz Jul3,2024

Burhanettin Bulut, Deputy Chairman Responsible for Public Relations and Media Communications of the Republican People’s Party (CHP), has strongly criticized the reflection of Turkish Statistical Institute’s (TÜİK) announced inflation data on retiree and public servant salaries. According to Adana Member of Parliament Burhanettin Bulut, millions of citizens are being crushed under the weight of inflation.

According to Bulut, the raise rate for public servants and retired public servants has been set at 19.3%, while the rate for SSK and BAĞ-KUR retirees has been determined at 24.73%. However, he pointed out that 4 million retirees with a base salary below 8,000 TL and employees earning 17,000 TL minimum wage have not received any raise. He emphasized that this situation is a serious criticism towards those who exploit the pockets of citizens.

Reflecting on the data released by TÜİK, Bulut stated that these rates are causing difficulties for retirees and public servants, asserting, “Shame on those who exploit the pockets of citizens!”
