Minister Ali Yerlikaya Announces Results of Traffic Inspections from June 20-27, 2024

Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya revealed the outcomes of extensive traffic inspections conducted by Police and Gendarmerie Traffic units between June 20-27, 2024. Minister Yerlikaya disclosed that a total of 2,786,451 vehicles were inspected during this period.

Inspection Results and Actions Taken:

Unauthorized Use of Flashing Lights:

189 drivers were penalized for using flashing lights or sirens not permitted by regulations.

Speed Violations:

140,947 drivers were fined for exceeding speed limits.

Periodic Inspection Issues:

29,308 drivers were penalized for failing to undergo the mandatory vehicle inspections.

Seat Belt Usage:

16,678 drivers received fines for not wearing seat belts.

Driving Without a License:

Authorities identified and penalized 14,433 individuals driving without a valid driver’s license.

Lack of Compulsory Insurance:

10,587 vehicles were fined for not having mandatory liability insurance.

In addition to the above infringements, a total of 433,207 vehicles and drivers were subjected to penalties for various other violations.

Minister Ali Yerlikaya’s Message:

In his statement, Minister Ali Yerlikaya urged citizens to adhere to traffic regulations. He highlighted the dangers of speeding and emphasized the life-saving importance of seat belts. Minister Yerlikaya reminded everyone that the purpose of travel is to reunite with loved ones, not to separate from them, underscoring the necessity of complying with traffic rules for everyone’s safety.

“Journeys are meant to bring you to your loved ones, not to separate you from them. Please keep this in mind,” said Minister Yerlikaya, concluding his remarks. He also pledged that traffic inspections would continue and affirmed the ongoing efforts to enhance road safety.
