Jandarma Launches Comprehensive Campaign to Prevent Crop Residue Fires in Aksaray

In Aksaray, as part of an effort to prevent crop residue fires and mitigate associated negative impacts, Jandarma teams are actively monitoring agricultural lands and providing educational sessions to farmers.

The issue of crop burning, which has recently been a pressing concern nationwide due to its significant environmental damage, has prompted the Aksaray Provincial Gendarmerie Command’s Environment and Nature Protection teams to intensify their efforts. Special teams have been deployed to scrutinize all agricultural lands around the clock, patrolling and engaging with farmers during the daytime.

Jandarma officers are educating farmers about the harm caused by crop residue fires, including damage to prospective crops, soil infertility, the death of soil-dwelling organisms, and environmental destruction. Additionally, they are highlighting the severe consequences of large fires, both financially and emotionally. Brochures detailing the hazards of crop residue fires and preventive measures are being distributed by the teams.

Statements from the Aksaray Governor’s Office and Aksaray Municipality emphasized the zero-tolerance policy towards crop burning, warning of strict legal and punitive actions against offenders.

Farmer feedback has been encouraging, with many acknowledging they have gained valuable insights from the Jandarma’s guidance. They expressed gratitude towards the officers, vowing to cease crop burning practices.

Authorities indicated that these monitoring and educational activities would persist throughout the summer to ensure ongoing compliance and awareness.
