1,456 Irregular Migrants Apprehended in Nationwide Inspections During Kurban Bayram

In a recent statement, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that 1,456 irregular migrants were apprehended during the “KALKAN-24” inspections conducted throughout the Kurban Bayram holiday.

Our battle against irregular migration continued uninterrupted throughout the Kurban Bayram holiday. During the “KALKAN-24” inspections, carried out using Mobile Migration Point Vehicles, a total of 1,456 irregular migrants were apprehended.

“We will never allow human traffickers and irregular migrants to make our country a target or a transit route for irregular migration,” said Yerlikaya.

Coordinated by our Governorships and the Directorate General of Migration Management and conducted by our Police, Gendarmerie, and Coast Guard units, the inspections took place in 60 provinces during the Kurban Bayram holiday. In these operations, 165 Mobile Migration Point Vehicles, including 75 in Istanbul, were used, and 35,159 identity checks were performed. As a result, 1,456 irregular migrants were identified.

The apprehended irregular migrants have been handed over to the Provincial Directorates of Migration Management, and deportation proceedings have been initiated.

“Even during the Kurban Bayram holiday, our struggle against irregular migration continued without interruption. Through ‘KALKAN-24’ inspections using Mobile Migration Point Vehicles, 1,456 irregular migrants were apprehended,” tweeted Yerlikaya.
