Tunceli MotoFest Kicks Off on June 27, Transforming Tunceli into a Hub of Enthusiasm and Adventure

In Tunceli, a city transformed from a terrorism-prone area into a hub of peace and tourism, the largest event in the Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia Regions, the ‘Tunceli MotoFest,’ will start on June 27.

With the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the initiatives of Tunceli Governor Bülent Tekbıyıkoğlu, around 2,000 motorcycle enthusiasts from various parts of Turkey have started flocking to Tunceli for ‘MotoFest,’ the region’s largest motorcycle event. The festival will take place in Örenönü Nature Park on the Pülümür road and will feature various events such as the Super Enduro Championship and ATV CUP, along with performances by artists. The festival will run for four days starting on June 27.

Tunceli’s Majestic Beauty

Highlighting that Tunceli will host four different festivals, Governor Bülent Tekbıyıkoğlu stated, “One of them is the Motofest, alongside Mototur, the ATV Cup, and the Super Enduro Cup, all of which will be held together for the first time in an organization in Eastern Anatolia. This area boasts diverse geography and stunning landscapes. Until now, Tunceli has been known for negative incidents, but it also possesses extraordinary beauty. We want the Turkish nation and our citizens to see these beauties. We’re by the Pülümür Valley, with the Pülümür River flowing beside us. The Pülümür Valley is not just a river; it is a magnificent natural beauty. Additionally, our events will continue in the Munzur Valley National Park, one of Turkey’s oldest national parks. The motorcycling community is a special group, including doctors, academics, business people, politicians, and high-ranking bureaucrats. We desire for these refined individuals to experience Tunceli. I, too, am a motorcycle enthusiast. For motorcyclists, Tunceli is like heaven,” he said.

The Peace of Tunceli is the Peace of Turkey

Emphasizing that they expect approximately 2,000 motorcyclists at the festival, Governor Tekbıyıkoğlu added, “However, to ensure safety, we will tour Munzur and Pülümür Valleys with 500 motorcyclists. We named this tour ‘The Peace of Tunceli is the Peace of Turkey.’ In the past, when we faced security issues, we traveled to these districts by helicopter or armored vehicles, which took hours. Now, these challenges have been overcome. As Turkey, we are nearing the end of our struggle against terrorists. We want our citizens to see these splendid areas. Our motor tour will go through the most beautiful spots. The festival will last for four days, and there will be activities throughout. It will conclude with a final and award ceremony on the fourth day. For the next year, we will start preparations to take a more professional step. The Ovacık motor tour we will conduct on Saturday will be very special. We are highly likely to see endemic animal species like mountain goats. Lastly, we will go to the Ovacık Springs, considered sacred by the locals. We will light a ceremonial fire and make a wish, praying for the peace of Tunceli. This ride will be very exclusive, and we seek support from motorcycle enthusiasts,” he expressed.

The Largest Event in Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia

Turkey Motorcycling Federation Vice President Mahmut Nedim Akülke provided details about the festival, saying, “The Turkey Motorcycling Federation has been organizing events for many years within the scope of sports tourism, aiming not just for sporting activities but also for the economic development of cities and regions. The event to be held this weekend in Tunceli will likewise be part of sports tourism. It will be the largest event in Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia, featuring both the Turkey Super Enduro Championship and the Tunceli ATV Cup, with thousands of motor enthusiasts from all over Turkey. In addition to competitions, the festival will continue with concerts. Tunceli, already a haven for nature lovers, will now also become a center for motor enthusiasts and aficionados. A track of approximately 850 meters has been constructed at the Örenönü venue, featuring various obstacles and figures, promising an incredible event for spectators. About 65 Super Enduro racers and nearly 20 ATV racers are expected to participate in this event. We invite all camping, nature, and motor enthusiasts to join us at this magnificent event,” he concluded.
