Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek Holds Significant Meeting with CHP Deputy Chairman Yalçın Karatepe
Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek, with the approval of the President, held a significant meeting with CHP Deputy Chairman Yalçın Karatepe. Breaking away from protocol norms, Şimşek warmly greeted Karatepe at the entrance of the building, and they proceeded to have a meeting in Şimşek’s office that lasted over four hours.
During the meeting, Şimşek listened to Karatepe’s views and suggestions. He transparently explained his perspectives on all the topics discussed. Additionally, Şimşek took note of the proposals within the framework of economic-financial realities and democratic courtesy. Following this, a detailed presentation on the ongoing economic program was also provided.
However, Şimşek expressed that Karatepe’s public messages about the meeting were driven by concerns to appeal to his supporters. He hoped that such messages would not harm the spirit of dialogue and normalization.
