Electric Boats Revolutionize Tourism in Muğla Akyaka Kadın Azmağı

The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change has announced a significant milestone in the Gökova Special Environmental Protection Area in Muğla’s Akyaka Kadın Azmağı. As of October 31, 2016, all tour boats operating in the area have successfully transitioned to electric power.

In a written statement, Minister Mehmet Özhaseki highlighted the project’s origins and its environmental benefits: “Initiated in 2016, the project aims to transform tour boats in the Gökova Special Environmental Protection Area to eco-friendly electric boats. Our waters and air have become cleaner, and the area now boasts a more pristine appearance.”

Since 2016, the electric tour boats in Akyaka Kadın Azmağı have been providing services to both domestic and international tourists, significantly enhancing the promotion of the region’s natural beauty. Minister Özhaseki made special note of this in light of Turkey’s 2053 Net Zero Emission and Green Development goals, spearheaded by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

“Under President Erdoğan’s leadership, we continue to work diligently towards our 2053 Net Zero Emission and Green Development targets. This project is a vital step in that direction,” Özhaseki said. “Our electric boats, which can be charged or powered by solar energy, help minimize water and air pollution, presenting a clearer, cleaner environment.”
