100 Years of Diplomatic Relations Between Turkey and Japan Marked by TCG KINALIADA’s Visit to Japan

The diplomatic relations between Turkey and Japan celebrated their 100th anniversary alongside the 134th commemorative ceremony of the Ertuğrul Frigate Disaster. As part of these events, the Turkish Naval Forces’ corvette, TCG KINALIADA, paid a visit to Japan. The corvette anchored at Kure-Hiroshima port from June 18 to 21, 2024.

The vessel was ceremoniously welcomed by Vice Admiral Tatsuya Futakawa, Commander of the Kure Naval District, along with Rear Admiral Yasushige Kono, Chief of Staff of the Kure Regional Command, and personnel from the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, complete with a band performance. During the event, TCG KINALIADA was opened to the public, providing many visitors the opportunity to tour the ship.

The visit included calls by Turkish naval personnel to Kure Naval District Commander, Kure Coast Guard Commander, Kure Mayor, Kure Police Chief, and the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Officer Preparation School. These reciprocal visits between Turkish and Japanese sailors aim to strengthen the friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
