Minister Ali Yerlikaya Reports 13 Deaths, 668 Traffic Accidents on 6th Day of Eid al-Adha Holiday

In a recent statement, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya revealed that 668 traffic accidents occurred on the 6th day of the 9-day Eid al-Adha holiday, resulting in 13 fatalities.

The statistics for Thursday, June 20, 2024, within a 24-hour period are as follows:

– 668 traffic accidents

– 13 fatalities

– 1,133 injuries

– 414,776 vehicles inspected

– Speed and radar violations for 22,592 vehicles

– Other infractions for 39,056 vehicles

In the first six days of the holiday (Saturday to Thursday), 49 individuals lost their lives, and 7,683 were injured.

Minister Yerlikaya expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery for the injured. He emphasized the importance of road safety: “Our sole purpose with these inspections is to ensure that our citizens reach their families safely. Please avoid speeding and don’t neglect to wear seat belts in both cars and buses. Let’s adhere to traffic rules.”

As the return journeys commence for those who traveled to various provinces for the holiday, traffic congestion is increasing once again.
