10 Dead in 696 Traffic Accidents on Fifth Day of Eid-al-Adha Holiday

On the fifth day of the nine-day Eid-al-Adha holiday, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya reported that 696 traffic accidents occurred, resulting in 10 fatalities.

On June 19, 2024, Wednesday, within a 24-hour period:
696 traffic accidents were recorded.
10 people unfortunately lost their lives.
1,205 people were injured.
425,063 vehicles were inspected.
23,219 vehicles were subjected to speed and radar controls,
35,990 vehicles faced other procedures.

In the first five days of the holiday (Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday);
36 people tragically lost their lives.
6,550 people were injured.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to the injured. He emphasized that the sole purpose of their inspections is to ensure that citizens traveling for the holiday return safely to their families and embrace them. “Please do not speed. Do not neglect to wear seat belts in both cars and buses. Follow the traffic rules,” he urged.
